Fishing, Zingaro nature reserve and the baglio of Scopello – Scopello is a small village located on the north west coast of Sicily between the fishing and holiday resort town of Castellammare del Golfo and the lovely protected Zingaro nature reserve. This area of the Sicily coast is an ideal location to discover Sicily. The coast has attractive stretches of rocks and green hillsides nearby, and there is the advantage of the larger city of Palermo not so far away. The village of Scopello is actually situated on a plateau some way above sea-level, though within walking distance of the coast below. The village incorporates the Baglio Isonzo, as well as a few attractive little lanes. The baglio was once the headquarters of an agricultural estate.
Another site worth visiting is the Tonnara di Scopello (Tuna fishing building) which is next to a lovely scenic cove which can be seen from the village. Offshore there are dramatic faraglioni which are rock towers in the sea. Two historic defensive towers also stand proud on the rocks. If you stay in Scopello then you must visit the Zingaro nature reserve. This is an unspoilt and typically Sicilian nature reserve.

Villa Afrodite – one of the most beautiful views to the Sicilian coast

In the baroque heart of Val di Noto – We are located on the south-eastern coast of Sicily, in the “baroque” heart of the “Val di Noto”, part of the Unesco World Heritage List, in an ideal position to visit all the most beautiful and tourist sites. From here you can easily reach Ragusa Ibla (25 km), Scicli (12 km), Modica (30 km), Noto (70 km) and all the sites shown in “Commissario Montalbano” (the famous tv series based on the novels by Andrea Camilleri).
It is also possible to go on an excursion to the Mount Etna (135 km), to the “Valle dei Templi” in Agrigento (139 km), and you can also easily reach Siracusa (106 km) and Taormina (182 Km), both famous for their beautifull Greek theatres. The Port of Pozzallo is not far (32 km), and it has many links with Malta by ferries.

Terrace with scenic infinity pool, whose disappearing edges merge together with the landscape and the sea, as if it was suspended in space. The swimming pool, about 80 sqm, is lighted by night and fitted with stereo loudspeakers for the wire radio. A wide well-tended garden, rich in Mediterranean plants and flowers, surrounds the whole villa.
A five-a-side football and tennis court shared with the next villa is available.

The ground floor consists of a double bedroom with internal bathroom. The warm anteroom, with independent entrance, is furnished with a sofa bed. First floor description
The first floor (180 sqm) consists of a wide open space room, a double bedroom and a wellness bathroom and it offers a wonderful sight over the swimming pool and the whole valley, thanks to a large scenic glass wall. An elegant and essential unique room composed of a living area and a modern and functional kitchen.
The living area, with a neatly arranged minimal designer furniture and a soft and relaxing lighting, consists of an elegant sitting room suite, a fireplace and a plasma screen TV.
The hi-tech kitchen, furnished with all sorts of comforts and accessories, offers a wonderful sight over the surrounding landscape. The Villetta Pietradolce, located in totally privacy, is part of the Resort di Charme Pietradolce. Elegantly refined, the Villetta is located in a ten thousand square metre nursery garden. Here you may enjoy a guided tour to discover the hundreds of scents and varieties of Mediterranean plants. It is also possible to admire a private collection of subtropical plants. The courtyards in lavic paving, the ancient cistern and river pebbles, surrounded by secular olive trees, the comfortable spaces designed to relax: all this has been designed to make your stay exceptional.
Guests of the Villetta Pietradolce can dinner in the restaurant of the Resort di Charme Pietradolce, based on the typical local flavoursome recipes, will bring you on a culinary journey through the flavours and scents of ancient traditional Sicilian cuisine. The care we put in the choice of our ingredients and the passion we put into the preparation turn every dish into both a pleasure and a discovery. Ten hectares in the most prestigious wine area on mount Etna are where we produce the Doc wine for the Resort and for the guests of the Villetta Pietradolce. The vineyards were bought in 2006 and they are between Solicchiata and Passopisciaro on the northern side of the volcano in the territory of Castiglione di Sicilia. The vineyards all grow Nerello Mascalese, the vine that produces the most appreciated wines in this area. This is where the ‘Pietradolce – Archineri Etna Doc’ is born from the passion and commitment of the Faro family in an area that has wine for its vocation. The name of the wine comes from the place where we produce it. Archineri has won “tre bicchieri” (three glasses), yearly award of “Guida dei Vini d’Italia 2010” of Gambero Rosso. The wine-making is done in a well-equipped cellar in Mascali, the area of origin of the Nerello Mascalese, only a few kilometres away from the Resort di Charme Pietradolce. “Pietradolce – Archineri” is characterised by its ruby-red colour, red berry scents with mineral notes, and by the complexity, persistence and elegant tannin it offers the palate.
We do not only offer wine and taste, however. A little lower down the mountain side, between the Ionic coast and the first hills, it is possible to find the best environment for Mediterranean plants to flourish, this is where Piante Faro have created the biggest nursery in Europe. Here the plants develop into unrepeatable shapes and colours: the Abutilon, the Agave, the Ficus, the Cistus, the Opuntiae, the ornamental Citrus plants are all to be found in the gardens of the Resort. They are the essence of Mediterranean gardens. These plants and flowers offer themselves to visitors in all their charm.

In this village of remote origins, these researchers find again the tastes of other times, archaic perfumes, characteristic and uncontaminated angles. In town, it is possible to admire breathtaking sights and four museums: Museum of the culture and the figurative arts, Parish Museum of sacred art, Brazilian Museum, Demological Museum De Menna.

A sophisticated winery far away from mass tourism

Built in 1791 - Palmento La Rosa was built in 1791 and used as a wine press until a few years ago. Palmento La Rosa lies in the national park “Parco del Etna” at the foot of Mount Etna. Thanks to its high altitude of around 700m, you have an excellent view right to the Costa dei Ciclopi. The location guarantees a mild and pleasant climate even in the summer.
In 2006, a vineyard with Etna grapes was planted on the 9,000 square metre fenced-in estate. Palmento’s terrace is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden with fruit trees, roses, cacti, palm trees and other indigenous plants. Far away from mass tourism, Palmento La Rosa is a sophisticated winery, which creates unforgettable memories for guests who appreciate service, character and charm.
The living room – relaxed atmosphere - “Palmento” means millstone or winepress. Wine was pressed here from 1827. The building’s structure and appeal were maintained during renovation and the 10-metre “torchio”, press beam, still dominates the vast main room. Together with the solid chestnut doors and floors and the artful wooden ceiling, the white roughcast walls create a unique atmosphere. Besides their rooms, guests are invited to use this 300-square-metre “salotto” – the living and dining room –, which is laid out on three levels. Two fireplaces, comfortable Sicilian furniture and settees invite to relax. We have a pool table for some fun and games. Satellite TV, internet access and a library are also available.

Cuisine – Tasty Temptation - Sicily’s richness is also reflected in its cuisine, which is influenced by various cultures. The Greeks, Romans, Normans, Arabs and Spanish have left their marks and contributed to the variety of Sicilian cuisine. And when you lose yourself in the sight of the artfully crafted, brightly coloured, towering Dolci, you have a fleeting glimpse of the ubiquitous Sicilian Baroque before your eyes. Enjoy your dinner here with us in the idyllic ambiance of Palmento La Rosa’s salone or its terrace and try Sicilian and Mediterranean specialities. We have a choice of regional wines on offer such as Outis and Rovitello from the well-known vineyards Biondi and Benanti. Dinner consists of an aperitivo, various antipasti, first and second course, dessert and coffee. A light a tasty lunch can be arranged. We prepare our meals with fresh, local ingredients. Being interested in literature and art, we enjoyed the pulsating life in the French capital. Nonetheless, we wanted a change and moved to the Haute-Saône, where we ran a B&B in the Château d’Epenoux. We love meeting and interacting with an international clientele. In addition, we have had the good fortune of sharing our passion for good food with our guests. Sicily’s cultural, scenic and culinary richness has fascinated us again and again during our travels. Things to do - Palmento La Rosa is ideal as a base for exploring Sicily’s southeast. Around Mount Etna, there are many intriguing villages and baroque towns worth seeing. The volcano can be ascended with your own transport or by organised tour. Taormina, Catania and Acireale provide international fashion and art. The towns of Siracusa, Noto, Piazza Armerina and Caltagirone are ideal for one-day sightseeing trips. We are happy to arrange individual theme tours and organise opera and theatre tickets as well as transport. An unforgettable treat is our wine tasting with BBQs or typical antipasti at different wine-growing estates.

The great importance as Greek Syracuse

The Sicilian Baroque architecture welcomes its visitors with the famous buildings which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage area. Syracuse (Siracusa) is a medium sized city in Sicily, Italy with an interesting mixture of ancient and modern. It was once described by Cicero as “the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of them all.” Syracuse is an amazing city of culture and history ready to be explored and savored.
Syracuse is an ancient town on the sea, which was of great importance as Greek Syracuse. It has a well known archaeological zone and a historic centre on the island of Ortygia (Ortigia).
Syracuse is a pleasant town, with plenty to occupy tourists for at least a couple of days. It’s also a good area for seeing the south-eastern corner of Sicily, including the Baroque towns of Ragusa and Noto, several archaeological sites, and the lively city of Catania. It is well worth the visit to the extreme southern tip of the east coast with miles of sandy beaches and the finest gourmet chocolates from Modica.

A large terrace with a beautiful sea view – This villa is located about 2 km from Fontane Bianche, just 20 km from the Syracuse with a direct private access to the sea.
The property is equipped for up to 6 people and surrounded by a private park of 450 SQM that provides a wonderful view of the coastline and the sea. The accommodation is characterized with comfort and very high quality materials. It has been decorated and furnished in a contemporary manner. The outside veranda offers the stunning views of the coastline.  Sites of interest include the nearby town of Modica, Ragusa Ibla, Scicli, The nearest beach resorts to the villa are Noto Marina, Arenella, Fontane Bianche and the protected coastline of Vendicari.
